The Village of Augusta was established in 1832, and is located mainly in Ross Township, in the northeast corner of Kalamazoo County. The southern portion of the village is in Charleston Township. Augusta is located between the city of Kalamazoo to the west, and the city of Battle Creek (Calhoun County) to the east. The Kalamazoo River flows on the east and south sides of town, with the Augusta Creek running north to south through town.
Augusta is a trailhead for a portion of the Chief Noonday Chapter of the North Country Trail, coming in from the east and turning north at Augusta Drive. In the coming years, we will soon be tied in to the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail coming in from Galesburg and meeting up with the Battle Creek Linear Park to the east.
